LORRAINE TAARI
Lorraine Taari, an artist/potter from a wee Moshav (agricultural village) on the border with Gaza. Originally from Scotland, having arrived as a volunteer, where she met her husband to be (a local agronomist) and laid down roots over 30 years ago. Painted from a young age, and until recently Managed a local art Center, but then discovered a whole new world of ceramics.
A Month after the war began, cleaned out her old packing shed and set up a studio, where she volunteered by offering therapeutic pottery lessons to a small group of individuals who lost loved ones in the ground shaking events of October 7th.
“Blowing in the Wind” painted after a tumbleweed blew into her garden and caused interest from the house sparrows, perhaps a new abode, which exemplified the feeling of fragility in our homes, once perceived as solid, now so precarious since that day.
