The painting “My Land” depicts a parallel between the human emotional state and nature—highlighting the challenges faced by both, and especially their capacity for self-healing.
In the painting, a semi-celestial figure stands on cracked earth, with a trickle of water flowing beneath her feet. The water, symbolic of life, represents healing, mending, and the reconnection of the earth—the very ground on which the figure stands.
The artwork was created using acrylic paint on canvas, employing a palette knife technique alongside brushstrokes. It was born out of an emotional state in which I felt the ground beneath me was unstable, and that I alone had the power to heal myself.
The symbolic meaning of the piece became clear only after its completion, and over time it continues to reveal new insights and layers of understanding.
